======= CATBooks ======= CATBooks 3.20.00 - Feb 15, 1997 Developed by FNProgramvare Storgt. 22 N-1531 Moss Norway E-mail: fredrik.nordbakke@ostfoldnett.no World Wide Web: http://www.prodat.no/fnp/eng/ We appreciate and encourage all comments, suggestions, and bug reports. Both your registration and your comments will help improve CATBooks and keep it on the leading edge. ============================================================= Description CATBooks is a quick, efficient, easy-to-use program for organizing your book collection. With CATBooks you can register and look up information about such things as: - author, title, release year, publisher, country of origin - condition, category, type, location, - edition, printing, pages, ISBN, - purchase price and current value. You can add personal comments for every item. Thirteen special fields enable you to customize your catalog. You can even store a bitmap picture of the book cover. CATBooks includes a loan module that lets you keep track of books on loan, who has borrowed, when they were borrowed, when they are due back and how many times they have been borrowed. ============================================================= Distribution CATBooks is distributed as shareware. This means you are welcome to give copies of CATBooks to your friends and colleagues. For a list of files that need to be distributed, please see VENDINFO.DIZ. Do not, under any circumstances, distribute CATBOOK.MEM. This file contains the serial number, and with this information we can trace the copy back to you. When CATBOOK.MEM is not present, CATBooks runs as an unregistered shareware version. ============================================================= Installation NOTE! If you downloaded this package from the Internet, please read this paragraph very carefully: A file called VBRUN300.DLL needs to be installed on your computer before SETUP is run. To save space, this file was not included in this package. Please check your SYSTEM directory (usually C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM) to see if you already have this file (this is very likely). If not then download, unzip and copy the file to the SYSTEM directory. It is very important that you do this before SETUP is run! VBRUN300.DLL is available from most file servers, including: ftp.cdrom.com/.1/simtelnet/win3/dll/vbrun300.zip ftp.ftp.hkstar.com/.2/simtelnet/win3/dll/vbrun300.zip ftp.demon.co.uk/.d5/simtelnet/win3/dll/vbrun300.zip ftp.uni-paderborn.de/ftp/disk1/SimTel/win3/dll/vbrun300.zip ftp.bitcon.no/pub/simtelnet/win3/dll/vbrun300.zip ftp.chem.eng.usyd.edu.au/dropbox/pgrad/utils/win31/vbrun300.zip ftp.edu.tw/Chinese/ifcss/software/ms-win/misc/vbrun300.zip To install CATBooks, follow these steps: From Diskette 1. Insert diskette number 1 into your diskette drive. 2. If you are running Microsoft Windows 3.1, from the Program Manager File menu choose Run. If you are running Microsoft Windows 95, from the Start menu choose Run. 3. In the text box, type the path to the installation program, for example A:\SETUP, and choose OK. 4. When requested, specify the directory where you want to install CATBooks. Unless you specify a different directory the application will be installed in C:\CATBOOK. 5. Choose OK to start the installation process. From Hard Disk 1. Ensure that all CATBooks installation files are in the same directory, for example C:\CATTEMP. 2. If you are running Microsoft Windows 3.1, from the Program Manager File menu choose Run. If you are running Microsoft Windows 95, from the Start menu choose Run. 3. In the text box, type the name of the drive and directory where the installation files are located, then type \SETUP (for example C:\CATTEMP\SETUP) and choose OK. 4. When requested, specify the directory where you want to install CATBooks. Unless you specify a different directory the application will be installed in C:\CATBOOK. 5. Choose OK to start the installation process. If you have any problems with the installation, you may install files manually by following this procedure: 1. Start a "DOS-window" (In Program Manager double-click on the MS-DOS icon). 2. What you type at the DOS prompt depends on the file you want to install. For example, if you want to install THREED.VBX, follow these steps: - Insert the correct diskette (in this case diskette no. 1) into you diskette drive. - Type this command (you may need to substitute A for the letter of your diskette drive, for example B) EXPAND A:\THREED.VB_ C:\CATBOOK\THREED.VBX THREED.VBX is unpacked and copied to the program directory. Normally, files with the extension VBX or DLL should be installed in the SYSTEM directory (usually C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM). Do not copy files to this directory yourself. If, however, you do, please make a copy of the original file first. You might overwrite a newer version, and as a result some other application might not work. ======= CHANGES ======= 3.20.00 - Feb 15, 1997 - A new loan module that lets you keep track of books on loan, who has borrowed, when they were borrowed, when they are due back and how many times they have been borrowed.
